Although 1876 was the ‘official’ opening year of the Oriental Hotel, the origin of the ‘Oriental’ side of the Mandarin Oriental can be traced back as early as 1863, when two Americans, Captain Atkins Dyer and William West, opened the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, Siam (now Thailand): however, the original building burnt down only two years later, on 11 June 1865.[2]

However, the history of the ‘Mandarin’ side of the group is comparatively recent: the The Mandarin hotel only opened in 1963, in the Central District of Hong Kong Island. In 1973, The Excelsior Hotel, which continues to use a separate brand today, opened in Causeway Bay.The property was intended and conceptualized as a palace and because of this you find royalty stamped all over. Extreme detailing and care has been insured into all aspects of the resort, starting from the moment you land till you check out. A lot of hard work has been done in ensuring that each room transports the guest to the good old days and the place sparkles with excellence and hospitality.

Each room is drenched in luxury and comfort. A stay in any room even for a small duration of time is an epic to life and every fiber of your being feels more alive than ever. From private swimming pools attached to the rooms, to courtyards, the resort not only offers breathtaking features within the premises but also allows the guests to enjoy the natural landscapes. as possible from local produce (lobster with the giant citrus fruit they call shaddock; jerk shrimp with mango; cashew fruit with rocket). Nelson may have called his posting to Antigua 'infernal', but a week at Hermitage Bay feels pretty close to heaven.

If its rates seem steep, it also has a three-star sister resort, Cocos (00 1 268 460 2626; www.cocoshotel.com; Sea View Cottages from US$270), which represents such good value that most guests keep it a secret. On the west of the island, it has superb views of coast around Lignumvitae Bay and an idyllic beach. The rooms, all with balconies, are plainly furnished (no televisions or air con), and the bathrooms verge on austere. But the setting is perfect, and meals, drinks (including cocktails and wine), snorkelling and kayaks, are included

RESORTS REVIEW...bay watch resort good view, luxury rooms, galaxy views ocean Reviews and advice on hotels, resorts, flights, holiday rentals, travel packages, and more ...

Bulgari Resort Bali is located in one of the most exclusive destinations in the world, a veritable emblem of the tropical exoticism of the Orient, combining the breathtaking beauty of unspoiled nature of Bali beach resorts with a sophisticated contemporary design born from the encounter between traditional Balinese forms and high Italian style. The quality of the services along with the views of the Indian Ocean offered by its magnificent position 150 meters over the sea are the perfect introduction to the second luxury hotels from Bulgari Hotels & Resorts.

Sotirios Boulgaris, born in an Aromanian village known as Kalarites, a son of Bulgarian immigrants, began his career as a jeweller in his home village Paramythia[2] (Epirus, Greece), where his first store can still be seen. In 1877, he left for Corfu and then Naples. In 1881 he finally moved to Rome, where in 1884 he founded his company and opened his second shop in Via Sistina. The store in Via Sistina was then replaced by the current flagship store in Via dei Condotti opened in 1905 by Bulgari with the help of his two sons, Costantino (1889–1973) and Giorgio (1890–1966)

There are five grades of rooms here and unsurprisingly, top dog, the super-private Osprey Suite, is the pick of the bunch. Jaw-dropping views, separate sunken lounge, freestanding oval handmade stone bath and terrace spa, plus state-of-the-art audiovisual gadgets (including a laptop). On a more affordable tip, we also love the 11 Flinders Suites (which have dreamy day-beds for terrace chilling), and five Ocean Retreats (with fabulous freestanding tubs and fireplaces).

Stone fortress atop a nearly 500-foot bluff, high above a white-sand beach accessible only by funicular. With an emphasis on drama, the common spaces and 59 spacious villas fuse the spirit of Bali with sophisticated Italian design

OUR FAVOURITE ROOMS
There are five grades of rooms here and unsurprisingly, top dog, the super-private Osprey Suite, is the pick of the bunch. Jaw-dropping views, separate sunken lounge, freestanding oval handmade stone bath and terrace spa, plus state-of-the-art audiovisual gadgets (including a laptop). On a more affordable tip, we also love the 11 Flinders Suites (which have dreamy day-beds for terrace chilling), and five Ocean Retreats (with fabulous freestanding tubs and fireplaces).

POOLSIDE
No full-size pool, but there’s an infinity-edge plunge pool outside on the terrace by the restaurant, plus hot tubs in the Remarkable Suites and Osprey Pavilion. A short walk away, Hanson Bay has consistent surf for a rough-and-tumble swim.

PACKING TIPS
Leave your ego at home. Sure, you’re paying for the privilege of being here (and it is a privilege), but management takes a first-name-basis approach, and the vibe is casual and unfussed. Don’t expect to hear any obsequious ‘sirs’ or ‘ma’ms’.

ALSO
Backed by an impressive limestone wall and with imported Roman floor tiles, the multi-faceted lobby area has something for everyone. The bar and restaurant occupy a large part of it, but there’s also a walk-in wine cellar in-the-round, a shop selling local produce, arts and crafts, a sunken lounge area with a too-cool French fireplace suspended from the ceiling, racks of quirky books and hip magazines, and an outdoor extension with a plunge pool.

Only kids over 10 years old are allowed. Extra beds can be provided for AU$600 a person (with a minimum of two guests in each room).it has good view of mountain. early in the mornin sun rises like a rabbit red eyes its make good

Turks and Caicos Islands Parrot Cay Resort

Turks and Caicos Islands Parrot Cay Resort

Parrot Cay by COMO is an award-winning Turks and Caicos luxury resort set on its own private island. With 1,000 unspoilt acres and mile-long beach, we deliver foot-in-the-sand luxury. All rooms, suites and beach villas have soothing interiors along with COMO’s service ethic, holistic therapies, yoga, diving and worldclass cuisine.rom its personalised service and sophisticated cuisine to its distinctive design and island beach, our Turks and Caicos luxury resort works hard to tailor the experience to your needs. This is because we know that everyone has a different idea of what a beach holiday should comprise.

There are probably more all-inclusives per head of population on Antigua than on any other island on earth. But although many of them conform to the mass-market stereotype, there are long-established exceptions such as Jumby Bay, part of the classy Rosewood empire, which is set on a 300-acre private island two kilometres off the coast (and is currently closed for refurbishment until next year).

However, the newest and loveliest addition to the island's hotels, all-inclusive or not, is Hermitage Bay, named after the supremely secluded crescent beach, above which rises a steep verdant hillside dotted with 17 handsome wooden cottages, each with a plunge pool. There are a further eight cottages close to the sand; they are smaller and lack plunge pools but have other advantages, not least their location. All have modish minimalist interiors, shaded verandahs and silvery wallaba-shingle hip roofs just like the ones in nearby Nelson's Dockyard, the exquisite Georgian settlement built by the British navy in the 18th century.our menus draw from the Caribbean’s rich seafood larder while emphasising all that is fresh, local and organic wherever possible. Our relaxed poolside Lotus restaurant serves light Caribbean-inspired dishes during the day and contemporary Asian at night, while the Terrace restaurant specialises in modern Mediterranean.

Our delicious and nutritious COMO Shambhala Cuisine, meanwhile, maximises energy and wellbeing, and our extensive room service menus let you enjoy meals in complete privacy with beach picnics, tiki hut dinners and poolside meals at your villa.
Our highly customised level of service is always combined with gourmet culinary offerings, all in the most secluded of private island environments.
We will confidently arrange the entire event from flowers to music and a castaway seafood feast. Celebrations can also be held at the privately owned residences that comprise Parrot Cay Estate.

In June 2004, Mulpha Australia Limited acquired Hayman, and, in January 2010, after almost six years of planning, design and environmental consultations, the final approvals were granted. The initial phase of this strategic plan has included revitalisation of the Hayman pool and the construction of luxurious new Kerry Hill designed beach villas.

Hayman re-opened on 1 August 2011 after five months of extensive restoration on the island, due to the severe impact of Tropical Cyclone Anthony and cyclone Yasi earlier that year. This period of closure enabled Hayman to complete the repairs required to landscapes, guest and accommodation areas, activity facilities and essential infrastructure as well as undertake other planned projects.

Commander George Nares gave Hayman its name in honour of Thomas Hayman, his navigator. The two carried out many exploits together, becoming the first to pass through the Suez Canal and completing a dangerous navigation around Antarctica. In the surrounds of the resort, a new botanical garden has some 33,000 new plants and 327 new plant species having been introduced by landscape designer, horticulturalist and personality, Jamie Durie, who was engaged to replant Hayman's 16 hectares of gardens.
